Country: LEBANON
Strategic Hub: Lebanon is a commercially diverse market with a long-established private sector and a strong services base, with Beirut serving as the center of regional commercial activity. It acts as a gateway for the Levant region, offering a sophisticated landscape for the media, digital content, and pharmaceutical sectors.
Regulatory Body: Intellectual property rights are administered by the Office of Intellectual Property within the Ministry of Economy and Trade (MOET). This office oversees the registration and management of trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
International Standing: Lebanon has been a member of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) since 1986 and is a signatory to the Paris Convention and the Berne Convention. While Lebanon is a member of the Madrid Agreement (1891), it is not a member of the Madrid Protocol. Consequently, Markone secures trademark protection here through direct national filings, ensuring compliance with local standards that are generally aligned with TRIPS.
